Udon Thani
Udon Thani covers nearly 12,000 square kilometers and is home to the world heritage site for the prehistoric culture of Ban Chiang. The province is best known for its archeological treasures, particularly the 5,000 year old Ban Chiang, the world’s first Bronze Age civilization.
Udon Thani borders Nong Khai, Khon Kaen, Sakon Nakhon, Nongbualamphu and Loei. It sits on a plateau, 187 meters above sea level. Much of the province is dominated by forests, hills, rice fields and the Phu Pan mountain ranges. The province is an agricultural hub for neighboring provinces.
