Rayong
Another of Thailand’s eastern resorts, Rayong province, is located 220 kilometers from Bangkok. In Rayong, the beautiful, exotic landscapes and delicious seafood and tropical fruits are the major draw for tourism. Over 100 kilometers of pristine beaches stretch along the coast. Tropical fruits such as mangosteen, durian and rambutan are plentiful, and the seafood in Rayong is some of the finest in all of Thailand.
Rayong encompasses over 3,000 square kilometers, and borders Chonburi, Chantaburi and the gulf of Thailand. Much of the province is dominated by mountainous and forested regions, with a few plains and fruit plantations interspersed. Rayong is divided into six districts and two sub-districts: Mueang Rayong, Klaeng, Ban Khai, Bang Chang, Pluak Daeng and Wang Chan; and Khao Chamao and Nikhom Phatthana.
Rayong is one of Thailand’s primary agricultural provinces, mostly due to the seafood production in the region. The province is also known for its traditional Thai way of life and the friendliness of the local people. November to February is Rayong’s peak travel season.
