Ang Thong

Ang Thong, formerly Mueang Wiset Chai Chan, was a main outpost for Ayutthaya during battles with the Burmese. Many historical battles took place in this region, nestled between the Noi River and the lowlands of the Chao Phraya River. Though small in size (Ang Thong barely covers 968 square kilometers), the province is geographically located in a prime river basin. Ang Thong borders Ayutthaya, Suphan Buri, Sing Buri and Lop Buri.
Ang Thong is administratively divided into seven districts: Amphoe Mueang Ang Thong, Amphoe Wiset Chai Chan, Amphoe Sawaeng Ha, Amphoe Pa Mok, Amphoe Pho Thong, Amphoe Chaiyo, and Amphoe Samko.
